Abstract

Angiodysplasia is a vascular malformation of the gastrointestinal tract, is the most common cause of mid small-bowel bleeding and a common cause of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, predominantly in the elder. There are various therapeutic options including endoscopy, surgery, and transarterial embolization. A case of superselective transarterial embolization in a patient with recurrent low gastrointestinal hemorrhage, without definitive diagnosis, resulting to be a cecum angiodysplasia. Superselective transarterial embolization is a feasible and safe alternative for the treatment of colonic angiodysplasia, specially for high endoscopic or surgical risk patients.
